Baby’s Dream recalls furniture due to lead paint concerns

Baby furniture manufacturing company, Baby’s Dream, has recalled 4,600 cribs and assorted pieces of furniture due to excessively high levels of lead in the paint, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The use of lead paint was banned in 1978 due to the serious health threats it poses to individuals and especially children. Infants and toddlers who accidentally ingest fallen paint chips are at risk of life-altering complications such as delayed-development and damage to the nervous system.

The recall includes cribs, hutches, bookcases, nightstands, and more, which were finished with a vintage grey paint. These items were sold nationwide in independent furniture stores and online at Babysdream.com between March 2014 and March 2015.

So far, no injuries have been reported, but Baby’s Dream is urging all customers affected by the recall to call the company immediately to arrange for an exchange.
