E-Cigarette Injures Memphis Man
E-cigarettes allow their users to inhale vapor instead of smoke, which is supposed to have fewer health risks than traditional cigarette smoking. For 29 year old Cordero Caples of Memphis, an e-cigarette turned out to be just as harmful after it exploded in his face. Over 25 injuries have been reported as the result of the lithium batteries failing in e-cigarettes, causing dangerous explosions.
Caples suffered from broken teeth, mouth burns, fractured facial bones, and a broken neck. His neck injury requires constant care in order to prevent paralysis, and has lead to a series of surgeries. His particular e-cigarette was made by Kangertech, though various brands have been known to have similar faults.
